About Me

Howdy! My name is Albert, and I made this site because I dropped my phone into a river and had to exist without it for four days (that’s a really long time, right?). It sent me down the rabbit hole of treating the internet like a place rather than something that travels with me in my pocket 24/7. From there, I got into point-and-shoot cameras, CD/DVD/Blu-ray collecting, and tinkering with old electronics. My current obsession is my modded iPod.

I'm really into music to the point where it’s kind of a concern. I've been called "a walking music encyclopedia" by people at work, and I have the useless talent of looking at someone and guessing their music taste. I'd say 60% of the time, I'm right every time. My favorite bands, genres, and songs are constantly changing, and I'm always on the hunt for new stuff. I do warn people that if they show me something and I don't like it, I'll tell them. My favorite genres are hardcore, shoegaze, punk, and soul, but I have an appreciation for all genres and am willing to give anything a shot… except Lin-Manuel Miranda, Pentatonix, YUNGBLUD, and Imagine Dragons. I also have a decent-sized, carefully curated record collection. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

Aside from music, I also enjoy watching movies. If you check my Letterboxd, you’ll see that my understanding of film is pretty trash compared to my understanding of music. But I really appreciate the movie-watching experience. It's probably because I lived with a bunch of film majors in college for a bit and I basically was forced to shut the hell up and watch the movie. My favorite kinds of movies are ones where the main characters are kind of assholes and learn something by the end, slashers, and movies that make great use of their soundtracks. See? Even when it's about movies, it's about music
